LOCATION OF POSITION

DHMH/Spring Grove Hospital Center, Rehabilitation Services Unit, Catonsville, Maryland

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide Occupational Therapy (OT) assessment and/or treatment recommendations for referred patients within Spring Grove Hospital Center, with major responsibility to the Admissions Unit and the Continued Care Units within Spring Grove Hospital Center. Assessment/treatment areas include cognitive and psychosocial function, sensory modulation, coping strategies, self-management and survival skills for independent living, task development, and/or pre-vocational skills. Services offered may include assessment, development, and/or implementation of treatment plans and appropriate revision of treatment. This position works at the full performance level of Occupational Therapy as provided by a licensed OT professional and performs these licensed duties under the general supervision of a higher licensed clinician or Occupational Therapy Supervisor or Manager. This position does not possess any supervisory duties. This position is considered Emergency Essential and is required to have and maintain a valid Maryland Drivers License and be able to drive a state vehicle in accordance to the State of Maryland Policies and Procedures for drivers of State Vehicles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice under the licensing requirements for Occupational Therapists.

Experience: One year of experience as an Occupational Therapist.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Therapy classifications or Therapy specialty codes in the Occupation Therapy field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as an Occupational Therapist from the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice, Spring Grove Hospital Center, 55 Wade Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21228.

2. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete and maintain current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.

3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
