Main Purpose of Job

Freestate ChalleNGe Academy (FCA) is a community based, quasi military program that leads, trains and mentor 16-18 year old at-risk youth so that they may become productive citizens with the values, life skills, education, and self-discipline necessary to be successful.

This position supervises and serves as the FCA commandant providing direction and vision to the cadre regarding effectiveness of its programs to include evaluations, assessments and development with emphasis on cadet achievement and graduation. See preferred qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Two years experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

**For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified at www.naces.org/members.htm

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

One year of the required experience in one of the following: military leadership, administrative management or experience providing supervision to at-risk youths in a residential or quasi military setting.

Applicants must meet the minimum and selective qualifications to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior military experience such as Senior Non Commissioned Officer, Non Commissioned Officer, Drill Instructor, Tech Instructor or similar training.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
