Introduction

The Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, Division of Unemployment Insurance (DUI)  is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of UI Intermittent Specialist in the Hagerstown Adjudication Center.

Main Purpose of Job

This is a part-time and / or seasonal work. The work may be for varying lengths of duration dependent upon workload. it may range from a few days, a week or full-time from a few weeks to several months. Intermittent employment is limited to not more than forty hours (40) per week and must not exceed more than eighty hours (80) of employment during a biweekly period. These positions in this classification require the ability to operate a personal computer. Demonstration of proficiency may be required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE SPECIALIST I

Experience: One year of full-time paid employment in the Maryland State classification of Employment Security Trainee or Unemployment Insurance Associate III or equivalent classification in the Employment Security Administration.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (DLLR/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to DLLR/DUI as a result of unemployment insurance overpayment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a temporary/contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
