Main Purpose of Job

This position conducts reemployment workshops for profiled claimants and other qualified job seekers to enhance job seeking skills and to lessen the duration of unemployment. In addition to conducting eligibility reviews to determine issues for job search for claimants and make appropriate referrals for adjudication.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of experience in the field of workforce development involving conducting interviews with persons seeking employment and providing assistance to employers needing qualified personnel to fill vacancies.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in workforce development taking job orders from employers, conducting job-ready interviews, registering job applicants, verifying job referrals, conducting vocational placements, performing unemployment adjudications, or appraising job applicants for employability may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Education at an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience at the rate of thirty credit hours for each year of experience for up to two years of experience.

3. Active duty military recruiting experience or career counseling experience may be substituted on a year-by-year bases for the required education or experience.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
