Main Purpose of Job

In collaboration with the Director, Environment of Care, maintains the Environment of Care (EOC) standards as it relates to personnel, materials, equipment, and the physical environment for approximately 380 patients, 875 staff, visitors on a 180 acre facility with buildings. Co-acts, monitors, and evaluates all Environment of Care activities in conjunction with the Director of Environment of Care. Supports compliance of all EOC, accreditation, regulatory requirements, identifies problem areas and recommends solutions. Supports the maintenance of the emergency planning and management for the hospital in collaboration with the county and State in accordance with their guidance. This is an Emergency Essential position required to have and maintain a valid Maryland Driver's License and able to drive a State Vehicles in accordance to State of Maryland Policies and Procedures for Drivers of State Vehicles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Three years experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

 1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

  2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

 3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.  

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Candidate for this position will possess any of the following:

  • Experience working in Emergency Management
  • Experience working with Joint Commission
  • Experience working in Fire and Safety

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
