Main Purpose of Job

The Carpenter Trim position is the advanced level of work in woodworking, involving precision cutting, fitting and finishing of wood. This position requires the employee to perform independently moderately complex task in maintenance work, including routine construction work, rendering routine preventive maintenance, and making minor repairs or improvements to buildings, fixtures, mechanical equipment, grounds and roadways. These job functions are performed for the facilities of the Maryland Air National Guard at Martin State Airport which includes 58 buildings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of the eighth grade.

Experience: Five years of experience in carpentry, two years of which must have been in finish or trim carpentry work or in cabinetmaking.

Notes:

1. Applicants may substitute additional carpentry experience at a rate of one year of experience for two years of the required education for up to four years of the required education.

2. Graduation from an accredited vocational or technical high school with a concentration in carpentry may be substituted for three years of the required general carpentry experience.

3. Graduation from a vocational or technical trade school with a concentration in carpentry may be substituted for up to three years of the required general carpentry experience.
