This is a Position-Specific Recruitment for St.Mary's County Department of Social Services.

Main Purpose of Job

This position assist the Human Resources Manager in the day-to day functioning of the Personnel program at the St. Mary's County Department of Social Services, providing specialized confidential supportive services to its employees in their service to the customers.

POSITION DUTIES

Processes personnel transactions through Workday and JobAps systems; file maintenance.

Tracks probation and promotion schedules and processes advancements accordingly.

Monitors and processing recruitment activities and appointments.

Provides customer service to employees regarding their personnel details.

Serves as Agency Benefits Coordinator and Agency Retirement Coordinator.

Manages training program enrollment for all staff and making all agency travel arrangements.

Conducts new employee orientation and completes all on-boarding and off-boarding activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Please describe in detail any specific job duties relating to the minimum qualifications stated below and include any computer software experience (ex. Excel, CHESSIE, CARES, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) used in each of the positions you held.

EDUCATION: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

NOTES:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have 6 months of  experience using Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Limited to individuals willing to work in St. Mary's County, Maryland which is 85 miles southeast of Baltimore, 65 miles southeast of Washington, DC and Annapolis, Maryland and 90 miles northeast of Richmond, Virginia.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
