Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
The Maintenance Supervisor II will provide direct management of the Facilities Maintenance Department at the Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center. The incumbent will serve as the primary contact and consultant for maintenance pertaining to Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center. As a Maintenance Supervisor II, the incumbent will perform weekly maintenance inspections of the facility buildings and prepare work orders for any deficiencies. The incumbent will assign and coordinate preventative maintenance, repairs, and minor construction work. In addition, the Maintenance Supervisor II will perform semi-annual roof inspections and annual physical plant inspections.
The Maintenance Supervisor II will monitor the performance of the various facility maintenance employees, which will include facility maintenance staff, contractors and housekeeping services personnel.
The Maintenance Supervisor II will assist the Deputy Chief of Facilities Maintenance in providing technical support for the daily activities and responsibilities of the Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center. In addition, the incumbent will assist with the preparation of budget requests for maintenance and equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of eighth grade.
Experience: Seven years experience in building maintenance or building construction trades including six years of responsibility assigning, reviewing and approving the work of others and disciplining, evaluating the performance of, and recommending the hiring, firing and promoting of others.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance specialty codes in the utility systems repair field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Candidates must be available to adhere to an On-Call work schedule when necessary
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in the licensed option must possess and maintain a current Maryland First Grade Stationary Engineer License from the Board of Examining Engineers.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
