Main Purpose of Job

The primary purpose of this position is to manage the Eligibility Team for the Central Maryland Regional Office of DDA. Responsibilities include providing supervision and direction to staff regarding clinical issues and evaluating requests for services for individuals with developmental disabilities. It is the responsibility of the person in this position to develop, formulate, and manage eligibility workflows. The goal is to make determinations regarding an individual's eligibility to receive DDA-funded services as well as the priority to access those services while adhering to time frames put forth in COMAR Subtitle 22, Chapter 18. As a key part of the eligibility process, this position also oversees the region's waiver application processes. Additionally, it is the responsibility of the person in this position to promote good working relationships within DDA, with other agencies, and with applicants and their families and advocates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling, or a related field.

Experience: Six years professional experience in health services, three of which must have been in professional work related to treatment and development of developmentally disabled clients, and three of which must have been at the managerial or supervisory level.

Notes: 1. Applicants may substitute a master’s or Doctoral degree in a health or human services field for up to two years of the required general experience.

2. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus an additional year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Health Services Administration specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred candidate will have experience with DDA Regional Office functions, including waivers, appeals, service funding and/or eligibility.  Interest and experience interfacing with the public and other stakeholders.  Leadership/supervisory experience.
