Main Purpose of Job
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Master’s or Doctoral degree in a health or human services counseling field from an accredited college or university approved by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists or completion of a program of studies judged by the Board to be substantially equivalent in subject matter and training.
Experience: None.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience providing substance abuse counseling to youth.
Experience creating treatment plans.
Experience performing intakes and assessments for admission to alcohol and drug counseling programs.
Case management experience.
Experience in crisis intervention.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
2. Employees must successfully obtain certification or licensure from the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as either a Certified Professional Counselor-Alcohol and Drug or a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor within one year of meeting the experience requirements for Certified Professional Counselor-Alcohol and Drug.
3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
