Main Purpose of Job

There are currently two vacancies located in the Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center, which has day, evening and night shifts.  Please note that both vacancies are for the evening and night shifts.

The Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center is a 24/7 maximum security forensic psychiatric hospital, where care is provided to mentally ill offenders, patients or residents who have been judged not criminally responsible for committing felonies, and to those who are too violent for a regular hospital or residential setting and who have been deemed dangerous to themselves or others.  Both positions will function as Staffing Coordinators in the Nursing Office and provide administrative support for an assigned shift including the processing and typing of shift reports, statistical reports and other correspondence as assigned by the Office Manager, RN Supervisor, RN Manager or Assistant Director of Nursing.  Both positions perform scheduling and staffing duties to ensure that all inpatient wards have adequate, minimum staff required to provide patient care in accordance with departmental staffing standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:  Three years performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.

Notes:  1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE ONE YEAR EXPERIENCE PERFORMING SCHEDULING AND STAFFING DUTIES (i.e., working with staffing sheets, daily assignments, call out logs, etc.).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a typewriter or keyboard on a personal computer, computer terminal or work processor at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
