POSITION DUTIES

This is a Lead position which assigns and reviews the work of lower level operators. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the operation of the Computer system; troubleshooting computer operation problems; reporting malfunctions to maintenance personnel; and follows the daily production schedules making adjustments as needed. When setting up production work will work with Tivoli Workload Scheduler (OPC). The incumbent will be a member of the Computer Operations Disaster Recovery Team, test and maintain the Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Operations Plans for the Computer Operations unit, and participate in the disaster recovery testing to ensure that the Computer Operations environment is restored and available for customers at an alternate site.

PLEASE NOTE: Working hours for this position are 3:30 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. The days of the week that this position works rotates, and this position often will be scheduled to work on the weekends and holiday. ITD is responsible for the 24x7x365 support for ADC mainframe, distributed systems, and networks. All ITD employees are available for on-call support. As such, this position is required to occasionally work an off-hour schedule, weekdays prior to 7:30 a.m. and / or after 5:00 p.m., weekends, and holidays.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Three years of experience operating multipurpose, multi-tasking computer systems.

NOTES:

  1. Experience operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing or maintaining information may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
  2. Fifteen credit hours in computer operation at an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Computer System Operations classifications or Computer System Operations specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years' experience as a Computer Operator II in a mainframe environment. (College Degree in Information Technology preferred).

EXAMINATION PROCESS

Only applicants who meet the minimum and selective qualifications for this recruitment will be considered for this opportunity. The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience. Due to the nature of this list, all qualified applicants are placed on an unranked list of candidates and will remain active on this list for at least one year.

Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview. Prior to appointment, the employee must successfully undergo a comprehensive background investigation including a review of criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Upon initial appointment OR promotion to a position in the State Personnel Management System, an employee is required to serve an initial six month probationary period. This probationary period may be extended an additional six months under certain circumstances at the discretion of the appointing authority.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
