Main Purpose of Job

The incumbent will act as an assistant in maintenance to the Administrator I, and will lead assigned workers in maintenance and repair work. The scope of the area maintained includes 175+ acres of land and 43 separate buildings.

POSITION DUTIES

Perform plumbing, for all facilities through-out the base.

Monitor and inspect all contracted work.

Inspect buildings.

Make emergency repairs to facilities.

Work on plumbing related HVAC systems. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of the eighth grade.

Experience: One year of successful full-time paid employment in the State classification of Plumber. OR Five years of successful full-time paid employment in plumbing work. This five years’ experience must have included at least one year of supervisory experience at the trade-supervisor level.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Posses a current State of MD Master gas fitter license.

Experience installing, repairing, performing maintenance and inspecting back flow prevention devices.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Applicants must be currently licensed as a journey plumber in Maryland. Applicants must list the license number and date of license on the application.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Some positions in this classification are assigned duties which will require the individual to be examined by a physician. After an offer of employment, applicants for such positions will be given a medical examination to certify the ability to perform the essential job functions.
