Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to assist clients with chronic and persistent mental illness to link with permanent supported housing, behavioral health services, and employment to assist them in accomplishing independence and self-sufficiency through resource development and supports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience in providing information on health care and disease prevention within the community.

Note: 1. Experience providing assistance to individuals in a health care or social services setting may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Health Services classifications or Health Services and specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desirable candidate should have experience working with adults with serious mental illness and/or those who have experienced homelessness. Experience working with the HUD programs is also desired.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
