Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Work to image, configure, deploy, maintain, troubleshoot and support computer workstations, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other computer equipment;
Configure, install, maintain and upgrade computer systems hardware and software; ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated validation systems, file servers, audio visual systems, computer conferencing systems, application servers, and administrative systems;
Work with stakeholders to define instructional and business requirements for technology implementations; perform site surveys for facilities-related projects; participate in hardware and software reviews and recommend purchases/upgrades;
Analyze and make recommendations for hardware and software standardization; assist in projects to select, configure, and implement tools to be used by technology staff to manage client devices (PCs, MACs, Laptops, and mobile devices);
Act as lead in projects including, but not limited to facilities moves and reviewing/recommending hardware and software purchases/upgrades; utilize procedures to manage employee access to network and network resources; assist in projects to enhance supporting processes and systems;
Diagnose and resolve unique, non recurring problems associated with application software and operating systems; determine the source of problems and classify their level, priority, and nature; document procedures, standards, best practices, configurations, settings, checklists/installation sequences and back-out instructions;
Create alternative methods of completing tasks, correcting user errors and system inconsistencies to improve the team's function; assist in training and orienting staff members on use of newer technology implementations; respond to all incoming service requests promptly, courteously and effectively;
Administer and maintain security of operating systems and other approved 3rd party installed applications; provide operational support for the organization's information systems and peripheral equipment such as application servers, database servers, web servers, desktops, printers, scanners, and storage devices;
Perform recovery procedures, scheduling and back-ups and performing the required weekly transfer of backup tapes for offsite storage; provide technical support to the organization's internal users of computer applications and hardware (e.g. PCs, servers, printers, and scanners);
Collaborate with network services, software systems engineering and/or application development in order to restore service and/or identify problems; maintain a troubleshooting tracking log ensuring timely resolution of problems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of experience responding to Help Desk calls from users of computer systems.
Notes:
1. Experience operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing or maintaining information may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Cyber and Information Systems classifications or Cyber and Information Systems specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

2. Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
3. Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MSCA)
4. Experience with Google Apps or Google Suite

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a temporary/contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
