The winner of dozens of prestigious automotive journalism awards, MotorWeek is a reliable source of automotive news on television and on the Web. Main Purpose of Job

Research, script-writing and administrative functions for Motorweek

POSITION DUTIES

  • Conduct research using the Internet, print publications and manufacturer-provided press materials. 
  • Write scripts for use in segments on weekly program.
  • Edit copy to conform to program style.
  • Participate in developing ideas for segments.
  • Finalize and distribute scripts and other entry-level administrative functions.
  • Monitor voice-over sessions.
  • Conduct vehicle 'walk around' evaluations and collect baseline data.
  • Log footage for use in segments. 
  • Travel to variety of locations in support of show production.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English or related field
  • Relevant professional-level writing experience in TV or radio broadcast or publications such as newspapers and magazines
  • Valid driver's license is required

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of various aspects of the automobile industry strongly preferred

SELECTION PROCESS

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience as presented on your application and as they relate to the requirements of the position. Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
