Main Purpose of Job

This position will function as the Chief Nursing Officer for the Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center.  The position functions as the sole nursing leadership position in the Department's/State's only maximum security forensic behavioral health hospital.  As such, it provides leadership in the establishment of the facility's nursing practices to ensure quality outcomes for the patient and expertise in clinical nursing practices with attention to the safety and security of patients and staff in this unique environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applicants must possess a master's degree in nursing or other health-related field from an accredited college or university and demonstrated experience managing psychiatric nursing services in a hospital setting, five years of experience must have been in a supervisory, teaching or administrative capacity.  Qualified candiates must possess a license as a Registered Nurse by the Maryland Board of Nursing.   A copy of your current RN license must accompany application.

A bachelor's degree in nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university, together with seven years of psychiatric nursing experience (as a registered nurse) of which at least five years must have been in a supervisory, teaching or administrative capacity is also qualifying.  A Ph.D. in nursing from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of general experience.   

 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Qualified candiates must possess a  license as a Registered Nurse by the Maryland Board of Nursing.   A copy of your current RN license must accompany application.
