Introduction

The Geographic Information Office within the Department of Information Technology (DoIT) is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic individual to fill the position of Program Manager II (GIS Program Manager).

Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Information Technology (DoIT) provides policy direction and technical support to state agencies and offices throughout state government. This position, located within the Geographic Information Office (GIO), has responsibility for coordinating geospatial mapping policies, procedures, opportunities and data collaboration and integration efforts with other mapping systems across the state for a variety of agencies. In particular, this position provides the leadership and support for geospatial data collection and quality control, fosters outreach efforts with partners, and provides the support tools for analysis and decision making for state agencies. In addition, this position implements Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools and technologies to directly support DoIT's mission of providing IT and GIS services within DoIT and to its customers. This position also provides the management of the geospatial data and analysis to support DoIT and the public via the use of GIS technologies in printed, electronic and interactive formats. This position advises DoIT in efforts involving or related to GIS technology and acts as DoIT's ambassador at GIS-related meetings and conferences statewide.

This is a Management Service position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or other related field at an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience:  Five years professional experience in the GIS field.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have 3 years experience using core Esri ArcGIS software products.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred:

Successful applicants will have at least two years experience in the following:

  • Experience with Open Source Geospatial Products
  • Experience with Open Data Products and Solutions
  • Experience supervising a team of IT professionals
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Certified GIS Professional (GIS)
