Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
This position is responsible for training and supervising an inmate work force in the operation of textile production. Responsible for assigned production process operating with full independence and reviewing the work of inmate trainees.

Trains inmate workers in production methods of a specified product.

Supervises inmate workers in actual performance of the production process from determining raw materials to preparation for shipping.

Set up and break down various production sequences.Train/instruct inmates in proper use of production machinery.

Draft and make patterns on new products; must be able to determine yardage as necessary.

Inspects work in process and finished goods and maintain acceptable quality standards as determined by the Plant Manager.

Responsible for distributing tools to inmate workers and collecting them at the end of the shift.

Performs periodic inspections of the shop to determine safety hazards and verify equipment safety.

Participates in inmate head count at the beginning, lunch period, deliveries and at the end of the shift, as well as lunch periods.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
In order to meet this educational requirement a copy of your diploma or high school equivalency certificate must accompany your application.
For education obtained outside the United States, you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. This evaluation must be submitted with your application.
Experience: One year of experience in the operations of textile production.

Specific educational requirements and other selection standards are set by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission in accordance with Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209 of the Annotated Code and are listed in the Code of Maryland Regulations Title 12, Subtitle 10, Chapter 01.
2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs
