INDUSTRIES REPRESENTATIVE I

This is a position specific recruitment for the Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services (DPSCS).  The resulting eligible list will be used to fill current and future permanent and contractual recruitments for the Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services (DPSCS).  Applicants certified will remain eligible for one year.

Promote the utilization of prison made products and services to government agencies, institutions, non-profit charitable, civic educational, fraternal and religious organizations within the geographic boundaries of the State of Maryland.

Some of the duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Generate new sales either by appointments, cold calls or referrals
• Maintain/update client base
• Written reports requiring analytical, language, mathematical skills and reasoning abilities
• Administrative duties

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certification.

Experience: Two years of experience in direct sales, inside sales, or related field (customer service).

• Prior experience with managing developed accounts to include sales growth.
• Prior experience in developing new accounts/business opportunities through cold calls.
• Computer literate, including intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel and Word).

All persons who meet the minimum qualifications will be approved on the certification list and will be placed on the employment (eligible) list for at least one year.
