Main Purpose of Job

Data Collection Specialist #223759 - Supports data collection on the effectiveness of the instructional materials and curriculum being implemented throughout the state of Maryland. In collaboration with the MSDE Project Team, this contractual position will develop a data-collection tool, collect data from all 24 LEAs, analyze the data and produce a comprehensive final report.

Professional Learning Specialist #223760 - Provides leadership and technical assistance for the professional learning communities of practice in the State Longitudinal Data Systems (SLDS) federal grant and assists in other state-wide professional learning initiatives.

POSITION DUTIES

The Data Collection Specialist will collect data on the effectiveness of the instructional materials and curriculum being implemented throughout the state of Maryland; develops state-wide data-collection tool collaboratively with a design team of Local Educational Agency (LEA) representatives and includes differentiated models, aligned standards, and clear timelines and processes for data collection; identifies and aligns appropriate Maryland College and Career Ready and other appropriate content standards.

The Professional Learning Specialist provides leadership and assistance in the development, communication, and implementation of school-based communities of practice (CoPs) involving data-dialogue/data-analysis, lesson study, and peer coaching/mentoring and professional learning initiatives for Maryland Educators.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Master’s Degree or equivalent 36 credit hours of post baccalaureate course work in education, professional learning, curriculum, school leadership or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of professional work experience with professional learning, curriculum, school leadership, or another closely related field.  Three years of experience designing, developing, implementing, maintaining and controlling database management systems for computers.

NOTES
: 1. Two years of additional experience as defined above may be substituted for the Master’s Degree. 2. Possession of a Doctorate in a field related to the position may be substituted for one year of the experience requirements.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A Master’s Degree. Experience with curriculum and content in core subject areas.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
