Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to work with patients who are medically complex, often times requiring intensive medical management for multi-system failure and/or ventilator management, or weaning. This position will work with the entire interdisciplinary team of professionals to maintain medical stability, along with the rehabilitation process which often results in excellent outcomes for the patient. This position will also represent the hospital, as needed, in public relations/community education activities, as well as, education to the staff. This position will be responsible for (a) examining, treating and/or prescribing for patients; (b) developing patient treatment plans, based on diagnoses; (c) implementing and/or overseeing treatment plans; (d) conducting clinical rounds; (e) and providing medical services to a caseload of patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a degree in Medicine from an accredited college or university.

Experience: As required for certification in an area of medical specialization by an American Medical Association Specialty Board.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Medical Corpsman and Physicians classifications or Nursing or Physician and Medical Services and Special Corpsman Officer specialty codes in the medicine field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Applicants must be certified by an American Medical Association Specialty Board in an area of medical specialization. ***Please be sure to include a copy of your specialization certification with your completed application.***

2. Applicants must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. ***Please be sure to include a copy of your current licensure with your completed application.***

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
