LOCATION OF POSITION

7800 Harkins Rd Lanham, MD 20706

The Department of Housing and Community Development Headquarters Office is located in Prince George's County at the New Carrollton Metro stop.

POSITION DUTIES

This position serves as the Deputy Director of the Division of Finance and Administration, with direct management responsibility for 3 senior-level staff and indirect management responsibility for 50 additional staff members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting or related field.     

Experience: Five years of experience with financial statement preparation to include at least 3 years supervising.    

Notes:

  1. Additional experience as described above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. CPA Certification or qualified to sit for the CPA examination
  2. One year of experience in governmental accounting.
  3. Proficiency in MS Excel financial functions
  4. Effective oral and written communication skills 
  5.  Excellent financial and analytical skills 
  6.  Ability to work independently in achieving deadlines

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Candidates must be willing to work in Prince George's County.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
