Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide training for software and hardware used by end users. To design, prepare and present training classes and to assist Information Technology Services within the Howard County Health Department with technical, administrative, or instructional help desk support. Additional duties include: development of manuals for software developed locally or through external vendors. Maintain accuracy of documentation and training for developed and purchased software. Provide assistance where needed with technical, administrative, or instructional help desk support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience evaluating, implementing and maintaining personal computer hardware and software.

Note:
1.  Experience responding to and resolving help desk calls from users of computers, or operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, data base or other applications may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Cyber and Information Systems classifications or Cyber and Information Systems specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desirable qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Professional
- Experience in the creation of training presentations using Microsoft Power Point
- Experience in the training of users in the use of hardware and software
- Experience in Help Desk Support
