Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide managerial supervision and oversight to the support departments of a major psychiatric hospital, with primary focus on the physical plant, Environment of Care, all essential non-clinical patient services. The Spring Grove Hospital Center is the largest State psychiatric hospital within DHMH, with a $86 million budget, 845 employees, 377 patients, and 70 building on a 181 acre campus. This position bears full administrative responsibility for non-clinical activity within the Center to include Fiscal Service, HR, Environment of Care, Maintenance and Plant Management, Environmental Services, Dietetic Services, Police and Security, Volunteer Services, Information Technology and the Cafe on the Grove. In addition, this position serves as a administrative liaison for hospital support to the tenants on campus which include the Office of Health Care Quality, Behavioral Health Administration, Board of Dental Examiner, Board of Occupational Therapy, SGHC Alumni Museum, University of Maryland/Maryland Psychiatric Research Center, and the Free State Theatre Organ Society. This positions receives managerial supervision from the CEO and is responsible for overseeing, revising, drafting and implementing administrative, departmental, clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures specific to the operation of a 24/7 mental health facility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree from and accredited college or university and at lease five years of healthcare operation experience (acute care, long term care, psychiatric care) in support services especially Maintenance, Housekeeping, Security, and Environment of Care.

Additional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's Degree in Business, Health Administration, or similar field is preferred. 

Desirable experience includes:

  • Strong working knowledge of Environment of Care standards for The Joint Commission.
  • Engineering Background
  • Strong Financial Background
  • Construction/Renovation Experience    
  • Collaborative
