Main Purpose of Job

This position leads, supports, coordinates, and monitors a wide range of strategic policy and planning activities related to school health and early child education. This position researches, develops, implements, and evaluates activities in school and child care settings to promote nutrition and physical activity, strengthen wellness policies, and support students with chronic conditions. This position collaborates closely with multiple partners and manages contracts to carry out this work. This position also serves as the Domain 2 lead for the State Public Health Actions (1305) Grant, with a focus on implementing policy, systems, and environmental changes to promote healthy behavior in schools, child care centers, worksites, and communities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field.

Experience: Five years of professional experience in health services, two years of which must have been professional clinical or administrative work in health or medical services in areas other than Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities or Addictions.

Notes:

1. Applicants may substitute a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a health or human service field for one year of the required general experience.

2. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one additional year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must have at least one year of experience in public health community programs, preferably in schools and early childcare wellness work.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate will have relevant experience in school and early childcare health. This position will oversee statewide and local wellness activities in school and childcare wellness partner programs and local initiatives. This position will manage contracts with internal and external partners. This position will also support Center initiatives by preparing reports, presentations and other documents as needed.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
