Main Purpose of Job

This is highly responsible administrative work directing and coordinating a major human service program and coordination of a more complex program or group of programs in the Family Investment Division. The employee in this classification exercises considerable independent judgment in the interpretation and application of laws, procedures and regulations in connection with various phases of the administrative process. The employee devises and installs work procedures and administrative controls, and assists and guides the staff in overall planning of the activities of the programs and reviews the operating efficiency of the District Office. Public contacts required of the employee are wide, varied and frequently at high levels.

POSITION DUTIES

Monitors the performance and outcomes of district office Family Investment programs and their initiatives in order to ensure accurate and timely program compliance and to develop program enhancement and improvement strategies.

Leads, motives, develops, monitors and ensures the evaluation of district office staff in order to ensure optimal individual , unit and office performance for quality service delivery to customers.

Fosters and promotes positive relationships between the district office and customers (internal and external) in order to ensure quality delivery of services and a positive work environment.

Assesses and monitors facility management (e.g., security, maintenance, office equipment, etc.) and take appropriate action when needed in order to ensure a safe, clean and productive office environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Eight years of experience in administrative, professional or technical work, three years of which must have involved supervision of other employees or exercising responsibility for program development.  

Notes:

1. Applicants may substitute education at the graduate level at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester hours on a year-for-year basis for a maximum of two years of the required general experience.  

2. Experience in a human service program may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required four years of college education.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Administrative Officer classifications or Administrative Officer specialty codes in the General, Administrative, Clerical, and Officer Services field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education, three (3) years of which must have been in an administrative supervisory or consultative capacity.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Three (3) years of the required experience must include experience with Family Investment Programs.  This experience includes the following programs, but is not limited to Medical Assistance, Temporary Cash Assistance, Food Supplement Programs and TDAP.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Candidates must be willing to accept employment in Prince George's County.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
