Main Purpose of Job
This position assists in the direction of the Grants Management Section. The section coordinates and monitors grants to ensure that all expenditures are applied appropriately, that all fiscal and programmatic reports are filed with granting agencies on time, and that all project directors are complying with the conditions and stated intent of each grant.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience in the coordination and monitoring of grants
2. Experience in identifying grant opportunities and developing strategies for grant proposals
3. Experience in writing grant proposals
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates will be subject to an initial drug screen and a complete criminal background investigation to include a polygraph examination before appointment can be made. A criminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the candidate.
SELECTION PROCESS
The selection for this process will include a review of each application. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be placed on an eligible list in the BEST, BETTER or QUALIFIED category. The list will be used by the hiring manager to select the individual to fill the vacancy.
BARGAINING UNIT STATUS
The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
