Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Fisheries Service in Annapolis, MD, is currently accepting applications for a Seasonal Contractual Administrative Specialist II. This position will support the commercial permitting program. Duties and responsibilities include: collecting daily harvest data from commercial check in stations, providing daily harvest updates to Fisheries Service Biologists and Managers, entering harvest data into the commercial permits databases, and organizing and archiving harvest records and permitting paperwork. The position also communicates changes in fishing season dates and limits to check in stations, makes daily updates to a commercial harvest update call in line, and will assist in communicating with permit holders through mailings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above forthe required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following.  Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification(s).

Experience entering data into, and qurying data from, relational databases is preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access) is preferred.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
