Greenbrier State Park- Boonsboro, MD (Washington County)

Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Maryland Park Service, is currently accepting applications for two seasonal Administrative Assistants at Greenbrier State Park in Boonsboro, Maryland (Washington County). The main function of the position is to provide secretarial & financial duties for the park. The selected candidate will be responsible for answering phones, photocopying, issuing permits, making reservations, typing, processing mail and greeting customers. Other position duties entail preparing deposits and supporting paperwork, processing bills for payment, entering data into Excel spreadsheets, reconciling budgets, processing contracts, payroll and corporate card logs. The selected candidate will also communicate regularly with the Office Supervisor. Applicants must be available to work weekdays from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Some weekends and holidays as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience: None.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following.  Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification(s).

Administrative experience in the field of park operations, recreation or a natural resources related field is preferred.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Applicants must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be able to pass a background test.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
