This is an agency specific recruitment for the Maryland Geological Survey, in Baltimore, Maryland.  This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies here or in other agencies.  The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.

Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Geological Survey in Baltimore, Maryland is currently accepting applications for an Admin Officer III (Budget and Fiscal Officer). The main purpose of this position is to manage, direct and coordinate Administrative Services at the Maryland Geological Survey, which include but are not limited to budget/fiscal services, management of the building services and operations, personnel services, procurement and contract management, management of the publications sales office, development of accounting systems and coordination of DNR/MGS policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified at http://www.naces.org/members.htm with the application.

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Three years experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

 2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.  

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

One year of professional work experience must have involved the State of Maryland's Financial Management Information System (FMIS) programs ADPICS and/or R*STARS.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification(s).

Experience in facility management is preferred.
Experience with WebFocus is preferred.
Experience with Budget Reporting and Tracking System (BRATS) is preferred.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This internal recruitment is limited to current contractual and permanent Maryland state government employees only.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
