LOCATION OF POSITION
Main Purpose of Job
The Office of the Attorney General is seeking applicants for a fraud analyst position in its Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU). Fraud Analysts will work with Assistant Attorneys General and staff of the MFCU conducting confidential criminal and civil investigations of fraud by health care providers receiving Medicaid funds and failure of care of residents in facilities receiving Medicaid funds. Duties include identifying, locating and interviewing key witnesses; analyzing medical records, data and other electronic evidence; preparing witness interview memoranda, preparing spreadsheets and reports; serving subpoenas and other document requests; testifying in grand jury and court proceedings; drafting and executing search warrants, working with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, conducting surveillance; preparing cases for trial.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Experience: Three years experience in administrative or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Three years' criminal or fraud investigative experience.
Be able to work throughout the state and at times work outside the typical workday as required.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word or other comparable word processing software, Excel, Access and database concepts.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
