Main Purpose of Job

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for efficient and effective day to day operations of WMHC. Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO is required to act on behalf of the CEO in his absence. The COO is a member of Senior Leadership and provides guidance and mentorship in the areas of human resource, quality management and continuous quality improvement, and financial planning and management. The COO assists senior leaders in removing obstacles and barriers to meeting the strategic goals of the organization. The COO is an active participant in strategic planning, workforce recruitment, retention, and development, and ongoing implementation and conformance to our Code of Professional Conduct. The COO serves as the organization's  "appointing authority" and interfaces with the DHMH department of Human Resources and Attorney General's office as needed. The COO also interfaces with the Department of Budget Management and Legislative Services as indicated as well.

The COO directly supervises the following departments: Human Resources, Financial Services through the Chief Financial Officer, Information Technology, Plant Operations including Environmental Services and Maintenance, Safety, Security and Emergency Planning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and five (5) years of administrative experience including three (3) years of experience in a senior hospital or healthcare leadership position.
