Main Purpose of Job

This position leads, supports, monitors, and coordinates activities related to statewide work site wellness and community based programs. This position manages contracts, including tracking of deliverables and budgets. This position provides technical assistance to the Healthiest Maryland Businesses regional coordinators and manages contracts associated with the program. This position works collaboratively with the Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control team to plan, implement, promote, and evaluate evidenced based community health programs throughout the state.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health Education, Community Health Education or Health Science.

Experience: Two years of experience planning, developing, implementing and promoting health education projects.

Notes: 

1. Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Public Health Education, Community Health Education, Health Science or related behavioral science and three years of experience planning, developing, implementing and promoting health education projects may be substituted for the required education and experience.  A copy of your transcripts (official or unofficial) must accompany your application, if applicable.

2. A Master’s degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, or Health Science may be substituted for the required education and one year of the required experience.

3. A Doctorate in Public Health, Community Health Education, Health Science or Public Health Policy may be substituted for the required education and experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Educator and Community Health classifications or Health Educator and Community Health specialty codes in the Public Health field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate will have experience in public health community programs, preferably in worksite wellness work.  The preferred candidate will also have relevant experience in chronic disease prevention and control.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
