Introduction

Main Purpose of Job

This position will supervise and participate in all exterior maintenance and repairs to the facilities buildings and grounds, including but not limited to; painting, roof and associated systems repairs, lawn and grounds maintenance and snow removal. The position shall also assist and supervise maintenance people engaged in various trades such as electrical work, plumbing, carpentry locksmithing and groundskeeping etc., prioritizing and assigning work orders and performing semi-annual roof inspections.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of eighth grade.

Experience: Four years experience in the building maintenance or building construction trades including three years of responsibility for assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in the performance of duties in the following fields of maintenance is highly desired:

HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry and grounds maintenance

Extensive experience supervising employees AND managing projects in Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and grounds maintenance is highly desired.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in the licensed option must possess and maintain a current Maryland First Grade Stationary Engineer License from the Board of Examining Engineers and must list the license number and date on the application.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
