Main Purpose of Job

The Bureau of Disability Services Operations (BDSO) determines the disability status of Maryland citizens statewide who are applying for the Aged, Blind, and Disabled (ABD) category of Medical Assistance (MA) and is responsible for managing and monitoring the Disability Benefits Advocacy (DBA) Contract that provides services to children in foster care and Temporary Disability Assistance Program (TDAP), Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA), and Public Assistance to Adults (PAA) who may be eligible for Social Security Administration (SSA) benefits. The Bureau is also responsible for reviewing and monitoring payment accuracy activities for the TDAP and PAA program.

POSITION DUTIES

The incumbent will track and monitor projects involving case reviews. Prepare, send, receive, track and monitor all State Review Team (SRT) referrals sent to the Disability Determination Operations (DDO) vendor who handles making disability decisions. Track, monitor and process Consultative Examination (CE) invoices. Generate, analyze and interpret reports for the Bureau. Gather required documents for the TDAP and PAA review process using Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position is limited to FIA-Bureau of Disability Services Employees only

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.

2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candiate will have the following experience:

One year experience with Client Automated Resources and Eligibility Systems (CARES) & Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS)

One year experience processing invoices

Experience with Microsoft Office

Excellent written and oral communication skills

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
