Main Purpose of Job

The Alcohol and Drug Associate Counselor Supervisor will provide professional, administrative, clinical, and therapeutic supervision to an integrated Behavioral Health staff.

POSITION DUTIES

The Alcohol and Drug (A/D) Associate Counselor Supervisor will directly supervise Alcohol and Drug Counselors and other Behavioral Health Clinicians at the designated DJS Youth Center located in Garrett County, Maryland. The incumbent will provide oversight in the areas of screening, intake, orientation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling, case management, and other forms of intervention.  The A/D Associate Counselor Supervisor will provide and monitor all counseling services to youth in accordance to DJS policies and other designated mandates.

The incumbent will experience providing direct counseling services for youth with co-occurring issues such as substance abuse and mental health disorders. Direct Behavioral/Mental Health counseling will include crisis intervention and medication monitoring. The A/D Associate Counselor Supervisor will work collaboratively with DJS Superintendents, Regional Directors, and other DJS administrators to ensure quality assurance is properly measured and maintained.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Associate Counselors-Alcohol and Drug.

Experience: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Associate Counselors-Alcohol and Drug.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a license from the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug (CAC-AD). Pending licensure status is permissible at the time of applying for the position. Please make sure to indicate the status of your licensure (i.e. awarded or pending) within the Supplemental Qualification section for further consideration of your application.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates who possess at least 1 year of experience supervising Behavioral/Mental Health professionals are desired.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Candidates must be willing to work an flexible schedule the meet the needs of the DJS Facility and/or Youth Center; which may include on-call.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates must be certified by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.Alcohol and Drug.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
