Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to manage the activities of food production, tray assembly and/or tray delivery of approximately 1200 meals per day in a large food service operation, with an annual inventory budget of $1.3 million. This position will coordinate the duties of food service personnel to produce meals with the responsibility of appearance, texture, portion control, temperatures, and safe food handling procedures. This position will receive general supervision from a Food Administrator and is to be considered emergency essential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience supervising workers and activities in an institutional, commercial, or industrial food service operation.

Notes:

1. Additional experience supervising workers and activities in an institutional, commercial, or industrial food service operation may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis for up to four years of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Food Services Officers or Culinary Specialist classifications or Food Services Manager and Services Officer specialty codes in the Food Service Management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can be reached or carry an electronic pager.
