Main Purpose of Job

The Physical Therapist within the Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facility at the Workforce & Technology Center specializes in providing Physical Therapy services to enable individuals with severe disabilities to achieve or maintain a vocational placement and/or independent living skills. Services occur within WTC, home, community, and worksite.

Note:  This position offers flexible working hours.

POSITION DUTIES

Provide direct client evaluation and treatment services at the Workforce and Technology Center and in the community at a home or job site; maintain required documentation of assessment and progress of client; participate in comprehensive team reviews; provide consultative services to other rehabilitation professionals; recommend environmental adaptations; request purchase of equipment and supplies for client needs; provides education to clients, care giver and employer..Provide active input and direction in maintenance of CARF certification status.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of an active license as a Physical Therapist from the Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners and experiences as follows:  Three years as a Physical Therapist.

NOTE:  A Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Physical Therapy may be substituted for two years of the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of the principles and practice of physical therapy; knowledge of neurologic, orthopedic and other musculoskeletal disabilities and their associated complications and prognosis; knowledge of medical, surgical, psychological, and educational procedures used in physical therapy treatments; skill in assessment of orthotic, prosthetics, and adaptive equipment for the specific needs of the client; skill in motivating clients and recognizing changes in progress; ability to document progress and prepared reports, ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff; willingness and ability to communicate with Health and Wellness Medicine staff including  Medical Director.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

3.  A criminal background is also required.
