Main Purpose of Job

To serve as Assistant Director of the Department's Income Support Unit and as the Assistant Director for Adult Services and the Out-of-Home Services units. Additionally, the position provides oversight of all organizational development initiatives including accreditation, continuous quality improvement and strategic planning.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Provide leadership and direction to program supervisors in Social Services and Family Investment.
  • Provide leadership and direction for all aspects of organizational development and excellence of the department.
  • Ensure the department's compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Represent the department at numerous planning, advisory, advocacy and issue oriented groups.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Posession of a master's degree in social work from an accredited college or university approved by the Council on Social Work Education. 

Experience:  Seven (7) years of professional experience in a social work capacity in a public or private agency or institution, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

All applicants must possess a license as a LCSW or LCSW-C in the State of Maryland.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and/or experience in public financial assistance programs.
  • Experience in integrating policy to local practice.
  • Clinical experience in adult, child and family welfare.
  • Experience in budget management.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Candidates must be willing to accept employment in Talbot County, which is located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland approximately 60 miles from the Washington/Baltimore metro areas.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SELECTION PROCESS
