Main Purpose of Job

To provide training and supervision to an inmate work force in a specified product line while organizing and overseeing production in area of responsibility. This position also fills in for the Plant Manager when needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of experience in furniture construction and assembly in a manufacturing environment.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1- Previous supervisory experience in a team based environment.

2- Ability to read prints, diagrams, drawings and other technical documents.

3- Experience operating: table saw, overhead router, planer, computer saw and radial arm saw.

4- Machine set ups and preventative maintenance experience is a plus.

5- Must be computer literate including basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software applications.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Limited to current employees working for Maryland Correctional Enterprises - MCE.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1- Specific educational requirements and other selection standards are set by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission in accordance with Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209 of the Annotated Code and are listed in the Code of Maryland Regulations Title 12, Subtitle 10, Chapter 01.

Employees who have not already done so must meet the selection standards required and successfully complete the training prescribed by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission (Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209). Selection standards for  Standards for Appointment to a Mandated Position and Documentation Requirements are listed in detail in the Code of Maryland Regulations Title 12, Subtitle 10, Chapter 01 and include the following: U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status Must be at least 21 years of age A completed background investigation Oral interview Physical examination.

2- Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

The evaluation may be a rating of your Application based on your Education, Training and Experience as it relates to the requirements of the position. For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the Equivalent American Education as determined by a Foreign Credential Evaluation service must accompany the Application. Applicants certified to list will receive eligibility for a period of one (1) year. Eligibility may be extended beyond one (1) year period.
