POSITION DUTIES

The Procurement Advisor serves as point person for all matters concerning Maryland procurement practice. Responsibilities include developing procurement policy regulations, recommendations, advisories, and carrying out other functions as assigned by the General Assembly.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree
  • ADPICS/FMIS experience
  • Experience in a large-scale procurement operation.
  • Specific knowledge of and proficiency in Maryland procurement rules, processes, and practices.
  • Substantial experience in government procurement law.
  • Professional procurement certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in written and verbal form.
  • Diligent, flexible, and of high integrity.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

THIS IS A SPECIAL APPOINTMENT POSITION. THE INCUMBENT WILL SERVE AT THE PLEASURE OF THE APPOINTING AUTHORITY.

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience.  It is essential that you submit complete and accurate information on your application in order to determine if you meet the qualifications as specified above, including a resume and unofficial copy of your college diploma or transcripts.  Applications submitted without an attached resume will not be considered; however, resumes will not be accepted in lieu of completing the application. 

Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview.  Prior to appointment, the employee must successfully undergo a comprehensive background investigation including a review of criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
