Introduction

Maryland State Department of Education is recruiting for a Stock Clerk II; located in the Division of Business and Administrative Services. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one (1) year. Persons interested in future vacancies within this classification must re-apply.

Main Purpose of Job

Process all incoming mail and parcels for headquarters office; order, receive and dispense to MSDE staff any supplies from our central supply store.

POSITION DUTIES

Order supply items from the appropriate vendors for the central supply room of the headquarters building. Issue supplies as requested by headquarters staff via completing the MSDE online supply request. Maintain stock of the supply items on the appropriate shelves for proper inventory control and reorder. Process all incoming mail and parcels for MSDE headquarters office; inputs mail management system data and generates daily and monthly reports; performs routine equipment repairs and services and contacts vendors to obtain service repair informatrion; assist in providing duplicating services; serves as back-up and assists in serving as department receptionist, direct calls and visitors to the department and performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: None.

Experience: Six months of experience performing stockroom work to include receiving, storing and issuing supplies, materials and equipment.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Stock/Shipping Clerk classifications or Supply Specialist and Service Specialist specialty codes in the stockroom field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of Mail Management Systems

Prepare, maintain and generate monthly mail reports

Effectively operate printing and copier equipment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Access)

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland
