LOCATION OF POSITION

7800 Harkins Rd Lanham, MD 20706

DHCD's Headquarters Office is located in Prince George's County at the New Carrollton Metro stop.

POSITION DUTIES

DHCD has an immediate opening for a full-time Database Specialist located within the Division of Information Technology. Candidates should be able to demonstrate analytical and organizational skills, as well as the ability to translate product requirements into databases and middleware. Qualified candidates possessing experience using Agile development methodologies and acting in project management roles are encouraged to apply. The ability to use Microsoft SQL Server is required, including the ability to design and implement relational database systems. Proficiency with Microsoft VisualStudio.Net, including ASP.Net, VB.Net, and ADO.Net, is preferred. Duties will include designing, testing, deploying and administering databases, with the ability to perform all assignments with moderate supervision. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications are REQUIRED.  Please attach your unofficial college transcripts to your application.

Education:   Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other information technology related field to include course work in database management systems.

Experience:  None.

Notes:

1. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate plus thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other information technology-related field to include course work in database management systems may be substituted for the required education.

2. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and one year of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining applications systems and programs using generally accepted computer programming languages or maintaining and modifying operating systems for computers may be substituted for the required education.

3. Experience operating computer systems; or scheduling, controlling input and output or maintaining a tape library to process data on computer systems; or converting data from project specifications by developing program code using generally accepted computer programming languages may be substituted for high school education on a year-for-year basis.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Database Administration classifications or Database Administration specialty codes in Information Technology field work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency with Microsoft VisualStudio.Net, including ASP.Net, VB.Net, and ADO.Net, is preferred. 
  • One year experience using Microsoft SQL Server.
