Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Ensures that the guidelines to be followed to facilitate workers’ medical recovery, functional capacity, and return to work at the earliest point of time following the illness or injury are communicated to employee’s treatment providers involved in accordance with recommended protocols, standard practice, and standard disability guidelines.
Maintains contact with the treating physician to stay current on the treatment plan and documents the employee’s status and progress to aid in making recommendations to the employer’s health care provider.
Makes recommendations to the employer’s health care provider concerning additional medical interventions, such as independent medical examinations, workability examinations, functional capacity evaluations, etc., as deemed appropriate to ensure adequate treatment is provided to facilitate the employee’s early return to work.
Obtains medical release (s) of information from employees, as necessary, to acquire the current dates of disability and treatment plan(s) from the treating physicians to gather all relevant data to effectively manage the case.
Notifies the employee’s supervisor/personnel officer when medical releases are not received in a timely fashion or other issues relating to the employee’s non-compliance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.
Experience: None.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. 3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.
2. Employees in the classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
