Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position will be to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate art therapy treatment to rehabilitate mentally ill, aged, physically ill, or physically disabled patients or developmentally disabled clients of Clifton T. Perkins Hospital. The employee in this classification does not supervise, but may provide guidance and direction to Activity Therapy Associates, Direct Care Assistants, students and/or volunteers assigned to the art therapy program position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Licensed Clinical Professional Art Therapist (LCPAT).

Experience: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Licensed Clinical Professional Art Therapists (LCPAT).

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates placed in this classification must be licensed by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Clinical Professional Art Therapist (LCPAT). 

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties may be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification.

4. Employees in this classification assigned to facilities with a swimming pool may be required to obtain Red Cross instruction and certification in Life Saving and Water Safety prior to permanent appointment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to call-in, and therefore, will be required to provide the agency with a telephone number where they can be reached.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
