This recruitment is limited to candidates who are fluent in the Spanish Language.

Main Purpose of Job

This position serves as the Ombudsman and Hispanic Support for the Department of Human Resources, Constituent Services Office's Hispanic Services Unit. Constituent Services is the Department's centralized customer service operation, providing information about and access to Department programs and services. Constituent Services provides this information to customers that access the Department by a variety of methods, such as telephone, correspondence, walk-in, email, community outreach and referrals from other agencies and political officials. The position will translate Departmental pamphlets, brochures and literature into Spanish, act as an interpreter for customers seeking assistance at the Local Department of Social Services, and assists with Community Outreach initiatives for the Hispanic population.

This is a part-time position which is required to work 24 hours per week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Two years experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

Limited to candidates who are fluent in the Spanish Language.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This position is limited to candidates willing to accept employment in Baltimore City.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

The assessment will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position.  Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.  You must possess the minimum qualifications to be considered for this position. Report all education that is related to the position.  Credit may be given for relevant part-time, temporary, or volunteer experience, if you list the number of hours worked per week.
