Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife and Heritage Service is currently seeking applicants for a seasonal/contractual Natural Resource Technician I position which will be based out of the Tawes State Office Building in Annapolis, Maryland. This position works closely with agency personnel and stakeholder groups concerning Maryland's Hunter Retention & Recruitment efforts. The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of hunter retention and recruitment outreach and education programs including, but not limited to, Junior Hunter Field Days, National Hunting and Fishing Day, Hunting & Shooting Sports Outreach Programs, and Mentored Hunts.

Note: This job requires field work in adverse conditions and may require heavy lifting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited college or university, 18 of which are in biology, biochemistry, environmental science, forest technology, arboriculture, aquaculture, natural science, natural resources management, botany, marine biology, marine ecology, physical oceanography, ichthyology, fisheries management, wildlife management, zoology, or a natural resources management related field of study.

Experience: None

Notes: 

1. Additional experience performing technical biological work in the field of forestry, arboriculture, wildlife, aquaculture, natural resources management, or fisheries may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

This position requires a Hunting License or a Hunter Safety Card.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

The selected candidate may be required to perform field work in adverse weather conditions. Additionally, this position may require heavy lifting.
