DHCD’s Housing and Building Energy Programs unit administers programs that assist low- to moderate-income households with energy efficiency improvements to their homes that save energy and improve air quality and comfort.

LOCATION OF POSITION

7800 Harkins Rd Lanham, MD 20706

DHCD's Headquarters Office is located in Prince George's County at the New Carrollton Metro stop.

POSITION DUTIES

These positions provide technical support and assistance to the Housing and Building Energy Programs which currently includes the Weatherization Assistance Program and network of local agencies, EmPOWER Maryland Low Income Energy Efficiency Program and the Be SMART/Better Buildings Program. The individuals will also conduct lead paint and rehabilitation program inspections as needed. Satisfactory performance of the duties required by this position meet the Department's goals by furthering Maryland's energy goals and improving the efficiency of homes, businesses and multifamily buildings; and preserving affordable housing through improved efficiency, and thereby improving the quality of housing for low and moderate-income Maryland households.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

  1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
  2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

At least one year of quality control experience.

OR

At least one year of construction experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possesses current BPI certification (please upload and attach your certification to your application.)
  • DOE weatherization Training (please indicate which specific trainings you have completed in your application.)

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Candidates must be willing to work in Prince George's County.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
