Introduction

Work that Matters.  The Office of Community Outreach is responsible for promoting the Department of Housing and Community Development (“DHCD”) housing programs and initiatives including the Department's foreclosure prevention initiatives for low and moderate-income Maryland residents.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Crownsville, Maryland In the future, DHCD will be relocating from Crownsville, Anne Arundel County, to the New Carrollton transit stop location in Prince George’s County.

POSITION DUTIES

This position relates to the mission of the agency by helping low and moderate-income Maryland residents find housing and helps to increase the percentage of low and moderate income Maryland household who live in decent housing; including sustaining homeownership. Assist the Director of Community Outreach with managing the day-to-day operations of the team, coordinating strategy execution for community outreach and educational activities, for a unit engaged in leading and performing assignments to optimize opportunities with current and potential external partners with the goal of promoting and informing Maryland families of the diverse portfolio of programs and services offered by DHCD.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

At least one year of  mortgage banking or housing finance experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four years of public relations experience  
  • Four years of experience in Community Outreach
  • Two years management experience

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
